The TL-SG1016PE“s 8 ports support the “Power over Ethernet Plus“ (PoE+) standard, enabling it to automatically detect and supply power to IEEE802.3af/at-compliant devices. This is done via the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for an electrical outlet at the location where the powered device (e.g., access point, IP camera, or IP phone) is installed.
Overload protection
The TL-SG1016PE features a priority circuit that protects the system from overload. If the total PoE power is exceeded, the active ports with the lowest priority are always shut down.
Port priority
Port 1 has the highest priority, and port 8 has the lowest (port 1 > port 2 > port 3 > port 4 > port 5 > port 6 > port 7 > port 8). For example, if ports 1, 2, 3, and 5 each consume 30W (which is the maximum per port), the total system power is 120W (the PoE Max LED lights green if all PoE devices consume 110W or more). If a 20W powered device is connected to port 4, the system shuts down port 5. Ports 1, 2, and 3 continue to receive power.
