The DGS-1510 series of Gigabit Stackable Smart Managed Switches includes models with 16, 24, and 48 ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps, plus two Gigabit SFP and two 10G SFP+ ports, as well as a model with 24 PoE ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps, plus two Gigabit SFP and two 10G ports. With its 10G SFP+ ports, the DGS-1510 series is particularly well-suited for use in the core network of small and medium-sized businesses with typical 10G uplinks and 10G servers. In medium to large enterprise networks, they can serve as a connection between core and edge switches.
The DGS-1510 series of Gigabit Stackable Smart Managed Switches also includes a PoE switch for businesses that need to power VoIP phones, wireless access points, or network cameras. The DGS-1510-28P is a PoE switch with 24 PoE ports, each delivering up to 30 W of power according to IEEE 802.3at. Two stacking/uplink ports with 10G SFP+
Depending on whether a linear or fault-tolerant ring topology is implemented, users can also utilize one or two 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports to create a physical stack. Within a stack, six units, or 288 Gigabit ports, can be configured with direct cable connections to achieve high bandwidths cost-effectively with DGS-1510 series devices. Furthermore, it is possible to mix different DGS-1510 series models within a single stack, enabling simple, centralized configuration, management, and troubleshooting.

Flexibility and scalability
The DGS-1510 series supports virtual stacking with D-Link“s Single IP Management (SIM). This allows up to 32 devices to be addressed via a single IP address. This simplifies the management of small workgroups or cable cabinets and enables network scaling to handle increased bandwidth demands. SIM not only reduces the number of IP addresses required on the network but also allows switches to be stacked over Ethernet instead of using physical uplink or stacking ports. This eliminates the need for dedicated stacking cables and the distance limitations that typically restrict possible topologies with other stacking technologies.

Comprehensive Layer 2 functions
The switches are fully equipped with Layer 2 features, including IGMP snooping, port mirroring, Spanning Tree, and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). Flow control compliant with IEEE 802.3x enables a direct connection between the server and the switch for fast and reliable data transmission. With 2,000 Mbps full-duplex operation, the Gigabit ports provide servers with high-speed data channels with minimal loss. Loopback detection and cable diagnostics are helpful for network maintenance. Loopback detection automatically disables ports and VLANs when a loop is detected on the affected port or VLAN. Cable diagnostics allow administrators and service technicians to quickly identify the type of cable fault and assess cable quality.

QoS, bandwidth management
The DGS-1510 series supports Auto Surveillance VLAN (ASV) and Auto Voice VLAN, making it ideal for video surveillance and VoIP installations. Auto Surveillance VLAN is an innovative technology integrated into D-Link“s DGS-1510 series switches. This technology enables the transmission of data and video signals over a single switch, saving businesses the need for additional investments in dedicated hardware and resources. ASV provides high-quality, real-time video transmission for surveillance and control purposes without compromising traditional data transmission. Auto Voice VLAN enhances VoIP by automatically assigning voice traffic from an IP phone to a dedicated VLAN. This higher priority and dedicated VLAN ensure the quality and security of VoIP traffic. Furthermore, DSCP marking of Ethernet packets allows for the assignment of different quality levels to network traffic, with voice and video packets taking precedence over other packets. Bandwidth management also allows bandwidth to be reserved for important functions that require more bandwidth or a higher priority.

Securing the network
D-Link“s innovative Safeguard Engine protects the switches from virus flooding attacks. Additionally, the switches support port-level authentication according to 802.1X, enabling network authentication via external RADIUS servers. The Access Control List (ACL) function enhances network security and protects the internal network by screening incoming traffic based on MAC or IP addresses. The DGS-1510 series features ARP spoofing protection, safeguarding the Ethernet network by preventing intruders from eavesdropping on data frames, manipulating traffic, and blocking the network with forged ARP messages. The switch uses Packet Control ACLs to block invalid packets with false ARP messages, thus preventing ARP spoofing attacks. Additional security is provided by the screening function for DHCP servers, which detects incorrect DHCP server packets sent from user ports and thus prevents unauthorized IP assignments.

Flexible management
The DGS-1510 series supports the D-Link Network Assistant utility and a web interface, allowing administrators to remotely manage networks down to the port level. D-Link Network Assistant effortlessly discovers multiple D-Link DGS-1510 series switches within a Layer 2 network segment, eliminating the need for users to change their PC“s IP address. It also simplifies the initial setup of DGS-1510 series switches. Switches within the same Layer 2 network segment that are connected to the user“s local PC are displayed on the screen, ready for access. This enables comprehensive switch configuration and basic configuration of discovered devices, including password changes and firmware updates. The DGS-1510 series also supports D-View 6.0 and a powerful command-line interface accessible via the console port. D-View 6.0 is a network management system that allows centralized management of critical network characteristics such as availability, reliability, resilience, and security. Switches can be managed via the command line using the console port or Telnet. This also allows for easy modification of basic settings, passwords, configuration files, and firmware.

Layer 3 traffic management
The DGS-1510 series supports static routing. This enables network segmentation into workgroups and communication between different VLANs without compromising application performance. These features increase network efficiency because the router is relieved of internal traffic and can be used entirely for external traffic and security functions.

Ready for IPv6
The DGS-1510 series is IPv6-enabled and supports a range of IPv6 features such as MLD snooping, ACL/QoS for IPv6, and IMPBv6. This ensures seamless integration into next-generation networks. Furthermore, the DGS-1510 series offers dual-stack support for IPv4 and IPv6, allowing the switches to act as bridges between IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Energy saving
Thanks to D-Link Green 3.0 technology, the DGS-1510 series switches save energy without compromising performance or functionality. The Energy Efficient Ethernet standard 802.3az automatically reduces network power consumption during periods of low data traffic, requiring no further configuration. For environments that don“t fully support the standard, the DGS-1510 series switches are equipped with advanced power-saving features, including port shutdown, LED turn-off, and system sleep mode, all controlled by user-defined profiles. These profiles can also be used on the PoE switch, preventing unnecessary power consumption outside of business hours.
