As soon as the power goes out, an APC Smart-UPS immediately provides emergency power to all connected devices. Because this happens automatically with an APC UPS, you prevent unwanted downtime of, for example, PCs, servers, or switches. With the free APC PowerChute software, you can even have critical IT hardware automatically and safely shut down when the UPS battery is nearly depleted. This prevents data loss, downtime, and physical damage to the hardware.
Extend the term
By connecting external battery packs (SMX120RMBP2U), you can easily increase the number of minutes that the APC SMX UPS can provide independent emergency power. Several hours of runtime are even possible.

Network Management Card
When you connect the UPS directly to your network via the optional APC Network Management Card (AP9640/AP9641), it can be easily managed remotely via SNMP or our Ecostruxure IT Expert remote management software (SFTWES1-DIGI). You can also automatically send a shutdown signal over the network to multiple physical and/or virtual servers. Using the APC PowerChute Network Shutdown software connected to the network card, you can even differentiate between shutdowns based on the time and order in which they occur.

Rack/Tower convertible
The APC Smart-UPS SMX is convertible to rack/tower configuration. Since both the feet and the 4-post rack mounting brackets are included, you can mount it in a rack (2U) or place it upright.
Extend the lifespan
The internal battery cartridge (APCRBC117) can be easily, safely, and independently replaced by the user. This can be done without having to turn off the APC SMX3000RMHV2U or connected devices. This allows you to extend the lifespan of your APC Smart-UPS easily and cost-effectively, ensuring your devices remain online at all times.
Warranty extension
The manufacturer“s warranty for the SMX3000RMHV2U is 3 years, except for the battery, which has a 2-year manufacturer“s warranty. Both can be extended by 3 years to 6 and 5 years respectively with the APC Service Pack (WBEXTWAR3YR-SP-05).
Switched socket groups: Remote restart and gradual start
Thanks to Switched Outlet Groups, it is possible to configure phased/delayed power-on for each UPS output group. This reduces the peak load on the UPS and brings it closer to the constant load, thus limiting UPS oversizing.
It is also possible to reset a group of multiple UPS outputs and the devices connected to them. When using a network card (ap9640) in combination with Ecostruxure IT Expert (SFTWES1-DIGI), this is even possible remotely.
You also cannot eliminate critical loads; this will only extend the runtime of critical equipment.
