Stay online at all times and prevent data loss
As soon as the power goes out, an APC Smart-UPS immediately provides emergency power to all connected devices. Because this happens automatically with an APC UPS, you prevent unwanted downtime of, for example, PCs, servers, or switches. With APC PowerChute Network Shutdown software, you can even automatically and controllably shut down critical IT hardware when the UPS battery is nearly depleted. This prevents data loss, downtime, and physical damage to the hardware.
Extend the term
By connecting external battery packs (SMX120RMBP2U), you can easily increase the number of minutes that the APC SMX UPS can provide independent emergency power. Several hours of runtime are even possible.
Security
Furthermore, a Smart-UPS protects connected devices from voltage spikes caused by lightning strikes, among other things. This APC emergency power supply is ideally suited for use in (small) businesses.
Manage your Smart-UPS
Thanks to the pre-installed network card (ap9641), you can easily connect the APC UPS to your network. This allows you to monitor and manage the UPS remotely (SNMP), and the UPS can send a shutdown signal to multiple physical and/or virtual servers using the PowerChute Network Shutdown software.

PowerChute Network Shutdown is UPS management software that works with the UPS network management card to protect Windows, Linux, and host ESXi systems, as well as hyperconverged and virtual infrastructure*. In the event of a power outage, PowerChute can properly shut down your virtual machines, and the pre-configured startup sequence ensures they are powered back on.

Rack/Tower convertible
The APC Smart-UPS SMX is convertible to rack/tower configuration. Since both the feet and the 4-post rack mounting brackets are included, you can mount it in a rack (2U) or place it upright.
Extend the lifespan
The internal battery cartridge (APCRBC117) can be easily, safely, and independently replaced by the user. This can be done without having to turn off the APC SMX3000RMHV2UNC or connected devices. This allows you to extend the lifespan of your APC Smart-UPS easily and cost-effectively, ensuring your devices remain online at all times.
Warranty extension
The manufacturer“s warranty for the SMX3000RMHV2UNC is 3 years, except for the battery, which has a 2-year manufacturer“s warranty. Both can be extended by 3 years to 6 and 5 years respectively with the APC Service Pack (WBEXTWAR3YR-SP-05).
Switched socket groups: Remote restart and gradual start
Thanks to Switched Outlet Groups, it is possible to configure phased/delayed power-on for each UPS output group. This reduces the peak load on the UPS and brings it closer to the constant load, thus limiting UPS oversizing.
It is also possible to reset a group of multiple UPS outputs and the devices connected to them. When using a network card (ap9640) in combination with Ecostruxure IT Expert (SFTWES1-DIGI), this is even possible remotely.
You also cannot eliminate critical loads; this will only extend the runtime of critical equipment.
