The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD is Kingston“s first innovative OS-independent, hardware-encrypted touchscreen external SSD for enhanced data protection. The VP80ES uses digitally signed firmware to protect against brute-force attacks and BadUSB. Brute-force attack protection crypto-erases the drive by default after 15 incorrect admin and user passwords are entered. The drive is FIPS 197 certified with XTS-AES 256-bit encryption using a Common Criteria EAL5+ (CC EAL5+) certified secure microprocessor and is TAA compliant.

The user-friendly VP80ES, which unlocks as easily as a smartphone, lets you drag and drop files while keeping your data secure. With the Vault Privacy 80ES, with its intuitive color touchscreen and the option for multiple passwords (admin and user) in numeric PIN or passphrase mode, your data is much more protected than on the Internet and in cloud services.

The administrator can enable a user password and set security options such as setting password requirements by specifying the maximum number of shared attempts, minimum password length from 6 to 64 characters, and alphanumeric password rules. You can also use the “space“ to make it easier to remember a passphrase as a list of words, a memorable quote, or the lyrics of a favorite song. You can also unlock it using the PIN pad like a mobile device and tap the “eye“ to see the password you entered to avoid failed login attempts and frustration.

In addition, if a user password is forgotten, the admin password can be used to access data and restore user access.
