5-bay 3.5”/2.5” SATA expansion
Easily expand Synology DiskStation with 5 additional hard drive bays. The DX517 supports 2.5” and 3.5” SATA drives, making it a highly flexible solution that can be used for both on-the-fly volume expansion and as a local backup destination.
Online volume expansion
The additional bays of the DX517 are managed through the DiskStation Manager on the host NAS and are ready for use as soon as the expansion unit is connected. Hot-expansion allows storage and services on the host to continue running uninterrupted during volume expansion.
Hot-swap hard drive tray
The DX517's hot-swappable hard drive trays allow for easy installation and replacement without shutting down the system. The screwless design of the hard drive trays ensures that the system is set up in a flash.
Dedicated local backup solution
Synology DX517 can be used as a dedicated local backup solution for Synology DiskStation. Created as a separate volume, the Synology DX517 offers an excellent data backup solution for the local hard drives in the event of a system failure.
