Layer 2 for optimal network management

The XGS2210 series switches feature multicast management capabilities, IGMP snooping, MVR, and voice VLAN, making them ideal data managers for VoIP, video conferencing, IPTV, and video surveillance solutions. In addition to standard Layer 2 features, sFlow enables detailed analysis of each client. For example, sFlow identifies potential users whose above-average bandwidth consumption is hindering network performance.

Thanks to the use of OUI lists (directories of MAC addresses by manufacturer), the XGS2210 switches can detect IP phones and assign them directly to the pre-installed voice VLAN. The QoS adapts to streams with particularly high latency. The switches also support static routing for IPv4 and IPv6. This allows the use of commands that are normally reserved for more expensive Layer 3 switches.

Complete configuration interfaces

The XGS2210 switches are compatible with ZyNOS v4.30 and benefit from significant improvements, particularly in the web GUI. Users now have access to a “Status“ page, providing an overview of all products registered on the network and allowing them to be controlled via direct links. The web GUI now also includes all devices, whether gateways or Wi-Fi access points. This enables users to quickly familiarize themselves with the settings of various ZyXEL products.

Of course, it is still possible to configure these devices via the CLI, or, for a large number of devices, via SNMP. Settings and management can also be performed using the ZyXEL One Network software. This allows users to reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks, especially in networks with a large number of devices. The software is very intuitive and enables quick and easy configuration, management, and troubleshooting.

With ZyXEL Smart Connect, the switches of the new series can also identify the ZyXEL devices to which they are connected and, for example, reset them directly on the switch interface or activate PoE.

Flexible PoE budget

The ZyXEL XGS2210-52HP is equipped with 48 PoE ports, allowing compatible devices to draw up to 30 watts. This makes it particularly suitable for connecting Wi-Fi access points, video surveillance cameras, or IP video phones. The switch has a total output power of 375 watts. This power can be used intelligently, as each port determines the required power for each connected device in real time. This minimizes the switch“s overall power consumption and allows for a larger number of devices to be connected to the same switch.
