When the storage capacity of the Synology 1U RackStation reaches its limits, the Synology RX418 expansion unit offers a simple solution for capacity expansion by adding four 3.5“/2.5“ SATA hard drives to the system. For comprehensive data protection, the Synology RX418 can also be used as a dedicated local backup location for the Synology 1U RackStation.

The Synology RX418 is ready for use immediately after being connected to a compatible Synology RackStation. Hard drives in the connected Synology RX418 function as if they were installed internally in the connected Synology NAS and can be managed directly via the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) without the need to install any additional software.
Environmentally friendly and easy to manage
The award-winning Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) offers an intuitive user interface for easy system administration. Hard drive hibernation can be configured in DSM, so it activates automatically when the system is inactive for a specified period. This saves energy and extends the lifespan of the hard drives.
