12-Bay Synology RX1217 Expansion Module

Synology offers you the flexibility to start with a smaller storage capacity and expand it as your company grows. The RX1217 and RX1217RP are 12-bay expansion units designed for seamless capacity expansion of select Synology RackStations.

Volume expansion and data backup

If the drive capacity of a Synology RackStation is approaching its limit, the Synology RX1217 or RX1217RP offers a simple way to instantly expand it with an additional 12 drive bays. The Synology RackStation“s RAID volume can be expanded directly without reformatting the existing hard drives. This ensures uninterrupted operation of the Synology RackStation even during storage expansion. To guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation, the Synology RX1217RP is equipped with redundant power supplies that provide automatic failover in the event of a PSU failure.

When the Synology RX1217 or RX1217RP is set up as a separate volume, it also serves as an additional local backup destination for Synology RackStations.

Reliable plug-and-use design

The Synology RX1217 or RX1217RP is securely connected to Synology RackStation servers via a high-bandwidth expansion cable, ensuring maximum data throughput and smooth operation – as if it were part of the Synology RackStation“s internal drives. The SATA 6 Gb/s interface guarantees outstanding data processing performance from the installed drives at the highest quality level.

Environmentally friendly and easy to manage

Sleep mode can be manually configured to start automatically after a specified period of inactivity. This saves energy and extends the lifespan of the hard drives. The RX1217/RX1217RP also automatically powers on/off the connected RackStation, eliminating the need for user intervention for intelligent and economical system operation.
